An Operating System is the fundamental software which manages a computer system. It controls how the hardware functions, the communication with peripherals including a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between your applications, as well as the prioritization of apps when multiple ones run concurrently. Each program that's installed on a laptop or a desktop works by sending requests to the OS for different services via an application program interface (API). The contact with the OS can be achieved via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the Internet hosting field, the OS is what controls a web hosting server as well as all of the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but, in addition every other application for instance a VOIP or a game server. In case there're virtual machines created, they employ a guest OS which runs on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer as many as 3 different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs available and we supply all three of them rather than just one as we realize that you may want to set up some software with specific requirements for the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there're various software applications you may install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you want to use one and for this reason we offer multiple Control Panels as well. In case you decide that you need a different OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you'd like. In addition, we offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server solutions - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they are absolutely free and they will not increase the price of your new server, but also because they are extremely stable and secure. Each of them is supported by a large community of developers, so you'll be able to choose from a large number software packages that you may install on your server in case the app that you intend to use has certain requirements. The Operating System will also determine what web hosting Control Panel you can use since the Control Panels that we offer are compatible with particular OSs only and since we want to give you as much adaptability as possible, we offer multiple OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you get a server with a certain OS, we could change it upon request in case it turns out that you will need a different one. We can also keep the OS updated on a weekly basis as part of our additional Managed Services upgrade.
